Bionic Woman TV Show starring Michelle Ryan
I have watched a few episodes of the new bionic woman TV series and surprisingly after the bad press I've heard about the show I ended up really enjoying it! The series stars Michelle Ryan, who if you are from the UK you will undoubtedly know best for her role as Zoe Slater in Eastenders; infact you will find it hard to think of her as anything else for a while. Remember her screaming at Kat Slater? The scene where she realises Kat's her mum? Classic Stuff, lol. Anyhow, I was sceptical about how well Michelle could carry the show but after having watched a few episodes now I think she's doing a lot better than people are giving her credit for. The American accent is not entirely awful, in fact it quite suits her and there's no denying she's looking great!
In her role as Jaime Sommers (The name instantly makes me think of Buffy) she plays a young woman taking care of her teenage sister and working in a bar. After a horrific crash she is fitted with several highly technical experimental medical implants which give her some pretty cool enhanced abilities and change her life forever but leave her indebted to the company who saved her life. Pursued by the supposed ‘first' Bionic woman in this series Sarah Corvus played brilliantly by Katee Sackhoff Jaime must also protect her sister from finding out too much about the bionics program and from becoming a target herself. Sarah Corvus is one of the strongest characters in the show, whilst we are supposed to be rooting for Jaime I often find myself more interested in Sarah and her own back story. Isaiah Washington is also proving to be pretty compelling so far, I was a big fan of his when he was on Grey's Anatomy and despite the offensive and unnecessary comments he made about T.R Knight there's no denying he's a fantastic actor. There are rumours that the show is going to be cancelled, possibly due to combining factors of relatively low viewing figures and script issues after the writers strike. Personally I am getting well and truly hacked off with bothering to watch new shows, as it seems that hardly any seem to last more than a few seasons now and it's getting ridiculous. I hope that The Bionic Woman gets a chance to have at least another series to see how much more it can expand and give it a fighting chance!
