P2 Review - Horror Movie Starring Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley

I watched this movie over the weekend, along with a string of other horror films I had stacked up on my desk. For some reason I seem to be watching horrors non stop right now both for work and in my spare time but that's fine with me as they are definitely one of my favourite genres of film.

P2 was one of the many I managed to watch (I'll blog about some of the rest later next week) and I found myself pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it for a number of different reasons all of which will be revealed as you read on ... Firstly a little about the plotline. Angela is a slightly uptight, overworked business woman who is looking forward to taking some much needed time out to spend the holiday season with her family. As she packs up her things and makes her way out of her office building long after the rest of the staff have gone home, she finds that the exits have already been closed off and with her car refusing to start she goes to look for help. She finds security guard Tom, who at first seems very helpful (if a little strange) but it soon becomes apparent that he has very different plans for how Angela's Christmas vacation is going to be spent. You see, Tom has been obsessing over Angela for months, watching her every move on the security camera's, convincing himself that he is in love with her and that all he has to do is get her completely alone and she will feel the same way about him. Chained up and alone with Tom and his very big pet dog Angela soon realises that her means of escape are limited and if she stands any chance of surviving the night she must outwit Tom and navigate her way around the cold dark floors of parking lot P2 and beyond. The setting of the movie is absolutely spot on, the cold dark empty parking lot provides us with the perfect atmosphere almost immediately and both actors do a really great job of managing to keep some much needed chemistry between them. I absolutely loved Wes Bentley's performance as Tom, he has the perfect mix of manical serial killer type menace along with a classic innocence as he truly believes he is doing nothing wrong. He has a tendency to go a little overboard with the persona at times and you almost want to laugh at him, but then he reels you back in by doing something completely shocking. Rachel Nichols (who I have never heard of or seen before) did a good job of playing the victim without making the classic dumb horror movie mistakes that we are so often subjected to and keeps Tom on his toes in a great game of cat and mouse. A great movie to go and see for some good old fashion jump from your seat scares! Well worth a look in my opinion. Seen this movie? Leave a comment and let us know what you thought below...
