Right at Your Door Movie Review
Written and directed by Chris Gorak ‘Right at your door' is a movie that I ended up watching one day when I was bored. I had heard little to nothing about it so when it turned out to be pretty damn good I was pleasantly surprised and entertained for a couple of hours. Right at your door is centred round a ‘Dirty Bomb' that goes off in Los Angeles. It is soon realised that the ash from the bomb is giving off harmful gasses making the air outside toxic. People are warned to stay in their homes, and to make their houses as air tight as possible to stop the toxins getting in. Young career woman Lexi is trapped at her workplace as her husband Brad attempts to get through the roadblocks and reach her but after his attempts fail he stocks up on duct tape, leaves a box full of amenities outside the house just incase his wife returns (you know she's gonna) and barricades himself inside.
A few hours later; yep you guessed it, Lexi makes it home only to find that her husband has essentially left her to die outside in the toxic air with just a glass door between them. This is where morals and ethics come into focus and you begin to question "What would I do?" in that situation. As Lexi fights for her life outside, Brad remains in the house and the two try to figure out a way to make it through the devastation that follows. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this film, and although some of the finer details aggravated me somewhat I found myself getting really caught up in the whole thing and questioning how I would have reacted and just how similar it would be if (god forbid) something like that actually did happen. It's a shame that the characters aren't particularly likeable, as it does hinder the way the plotline flows a little bit but Gorak has done a great job of building tension and running with it, leaving us completely confused as to who we should trust! This was a really enjoyable film that although probably isn't going to win any Oscars is definitely worth watching if like me, you find yourself bored of an evening.
