The Last Man on Earth Free Old Horror Movie - Outstanding
I had some time to kill in the Los Angeles Airport before leaving for my holiday vacation. My girlfriend and I brought our laptops and were perusing online looking for some cool videos and I happened upon the full movie "The Last Man on Earth." It's recently been released in the public domain and it's free.
What I remember reading about the film is that it was the precursor to the entire zombie horror genere and was the film that George Romero took a look of a lot of influences from his cult classic horror film "Night of the Living Dead."
The Last Man on Earth has a lot of the conventions you're used to seeing in modern horror movies, mysterious virus, people coming back to life, end of the world, last remaining survivor, but it's executed really well.Â
It's begins with the "last man" alive trying to survive in a world full of zombie (called vampire in this film, but they act and look like zombies) and his deep low narration. Then it proceeds into a bunch of flashbacks showing his family and their deaths.
It's a lot of fun to watch some of the beginning to horror movie conventions that are used so much and the classic style of the dark low voiced narrator and the "danger" music. It's surpringly creepy despite it's black and white, 1964 production date. The Last Man on Earth
