The Top 10 Cheesiest Moments In Film History
I love movies, and sometimes think a little bit of cheese in a film is a good thing don’t you? However, some films just can’t resist turning that ‘cheese factor’ up a notch and coming up with some truly cringe worthy lines in the process. I’ve put together a little list of my Top 10 Favourite Cheesy Film Moments below. Feel free to add your own by hitting the reply button at the end of this article as I’m sure there are far more than 10 of these little gems out there!
In No Particular Order:
1) Four Weddings and a Funeral – Carrie (Andie MacDowell) After Hugh Grants babbling speech about how much he loves her whilst they both stand outside in the pouring rain She looks up and says in a dreamy fashion “Is it still raining? I hadn’t noticed” Yeah, sure! For goodness sake go and find yourself a hairdryer woman! Click the youtube video below to watch the scene for yourself, fast forward the first minute or so of talking.
2) Titanic – Jack Dawson (Leonardo Dicaprio) “I’m the King of the World!!” No, you’re not now get down before you fall and make us all miss the opportunity to watch you freeze to death in the middle of the ocean!
3) Grease 2 - Stephanie Zinone (Michelle Pfeiffer) ‘Singing’ “I want a cool rider!” It’s quite embarrassing for me now to admit that as a teenager Grease & Grease 2 were my favourite films and I knew all the words to this song. I SO wanted to be a ‘Pink Lady’ … seriously. Watch the youtube clip below to see ‘Cool Rider’ in all it’s glory.
4) Pirates of the Caribbean; The Curse of the Black Pearl – Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) “Elizabeth, I should have told you every day, from the moment that I met you... I love you.” Someone should have told you guys that the only reason any of us watch the Pirates of the Caribbean films is for Jack Sparrow!
5) The Postman – Kevin Costner “Lady: Your a Godsend, a saviour. Postman: No, I’m a postman. Noooooo! I still can’t believe they actually put that line in the film. I’m sure that must be one of the worst yet.
6) Tank Girl – Lori Petty “I'm gonna hit you so hard, your children will be born bruised!” OK then, nothing like over exaggerating is there!
7) Dirty Dancing – Baby “Baby: “Me? I'm scared of everything. I'm scared of what I saw. I’m scared of what I did, of who I am. And most of all...I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life, the way I feel when I’m with you." Bleurgh!! I couldn’t find that exact clip of the Dirty Dancing quote so instead I’ve included the youtube clip that took the UK by storm; one couples ‘first dance’ to the theme song from Dirty Dancing. Incredibly cheesy, yet strangely romantic don’t you think?
8) For number 8 I’ve chosen the movie Jerry Maguire, but rather than going for the usual ‘You had me at Hello’ or ‘’Show me the money’ quotes I’m picking a scene from the movie as my cheesiest moment. Check out Tom in his car singing “Freefalling!” Look at his happy little face.
9) From the 80's movie "they live" - "It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum and I'm all out of gum"
10) Last up is this scene from a relatively unknown film called American Force 2 The Untouchable Glory. The whole scene is awful, but the best bits are when the first guy randomly blurts out “Never judge a book by its cover” as if it’s some witty quip, and the final line in the youtube clip below is even better. Enjoy, and feel free to comment and add your own cheesy movie lines!
